Cottage of the Week – Domaine de Cances Laborde

We feature a lot of heritage properties here at cottages4you but we have to say that this new addition: Domaine de Cances Laborde in Casseneuil, Lot-et-Garonne is one of the finest examples of modernising a property without betraying its historical features. So this once 18th/19th-century farm still boasts a wealth of welcome accoutrements, such as the boat-bottom roof over the dovecote, the forge-inspired fireplace, stone walls, flagstone flooring underfoot and limed beams overhead, but it also offers an equally diverse and welcome array of modern conveniences.

The kitchen is a chef’s dream with a lava stone central island and all modern appliances. There is a gym and spa area with a sauna, hammam (Turkish  bath), 30m² plunge pool and Jacuzzi, as well as a full size billiard room, office space with wi-fi and surround-sound throughout the house. All bedrooms have en-suite walk-in showers. The designer outdoor pool with adjoining Jacuzzi, waterfall feature and separate shallow area can be floodlit at night.  What’s more the partially landscaped grounds are totally enclosed.

Obviously so many additions require space and, as with all other aspects, Domaine de Cances Laborde is happy to accommodate. Converted from ancient stone farm buildings, this stunning location offers a detached property of more than 1000m². Up to 8 holidaymakers can enjoy the light airy spaces and the host of entertainment options.

There is so much to do at Domaine de Cances Laborde that you would be forgiven for choosing to spend all your time there pursuing the ultimate in relaxation. If you do fancy exploring slightly further afield, however, you will find the surrounding area offers more than just a few ways to pass your time.

The property is set on the edge of the medieval village of Casseneuil on the River Lot. You will find most facilities in the village – along with some lovely local heritage. Popular Bergerac is approximately 30 miles from the property. Alongside the airport you will find a thriving wine industry, markets and wonderful river cruises. Bordeaux is further afield but rewards day trippers with even more leisure options, including fantastic shops, restaurants and museums.

As you have probably discovered by now, Domaine de Cances Laborde offers a host of entertainment options to suit all ages and interests. Obviously leisure and relaxation is the order of the day, but there really is something for everyone to enjoy at this wonderful property in a delightful corner of France.
