Ride with Brad – August 19th 2012

It barely seems like a year has gone by since a group of intrepid cottages4you staff braved the hills of Lancashire for the 2011 Pendle Predator – raising some much-needed funds for BE Bosom Friends in the process. But here we are, one year later and we’re already planning on getting back in the saddle for 2012’s event.

Though this time things will be a little different…

For one, 2012’s event is called the ‘Ride with Brad’ sportive. Winner of the 2011 British National Road Race Championships – and 2012 Tour de France and Olympic cycling hopeful – Bradley Wiggins will be leading the charge, with 2,000 cyclists from all over the country choosing a 60 mile or a 110 mile route through some of Lancashire’s most stunning countryside. This year cottages4you participants will be raising funds for the Pendleside Hospice.

Also, the competitive element has all but been eliminated; 2012’s event is all about taking part. Besides, the Pendle hills should provide more than enough competition!

The Ride with Brad sportive is part of the launch of his new Bradley Wiggins Foundation whose aims are:

  • To promote participation in sport and encourage people to exercise on a regular basis
  • To support keen and talented athletes from all sports who have the potential of taking their talent to the next level
  • To provide equipment or facilities to allow participation in sport as an individual, through clubs, local communities or schools

Visit The Bradley Wiggins Foundation website to register and find more information about the event.

Hope to see you there!
