Cottage of the week – The Windmill

We love repurposed buildings at cottages4you; the change from functional into relaxing and decorative adds a wealth of character, and there are few greater examples of this than our new Cottage of the Week.

The Windmill in Buckinghamshire may have lost its sails but this unique holiday cottage more than makes up for it by offering an incredible experience to visitors. Enjoy five levels of delightful relaxation with lovely views of the Chiltern Hills, the Vale of Ayesbury and the Chequers Estate – the Prime Minister’s very own holiday cottage!

Oxford is only 18 miles away and the train station in Wendover is only 5 minutes walk, if you fancy the short train ride to the bright lights of our cosmopolitan capital. Other easily accessible attractions include the zoo at Whipsnade and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. Wendover itself is a lovely little market town with a fine array of historic buildings, restaurants, shops and pubs and a market every Thursday.

A working windmill until 1900, the property has since been refined to offer a wealth of luxurious comfort, while retaining its quirky character. You’ll find exposed beams, wooden and slate floors alongside some more contemporary features such as a DVD player, Wi-Fi and satellite TV. There’s a lovely little enclosed garden at the back with furniture and a barbecue for enjoying the warmer months. And don’t worry about the size of the property – we’ve had much positive feedback about the ratio of bedrooms to bathrooms!

Short breaks are available at The Windmill all year round. There is parking available and, as it is one of our Baby and Toddler-friendly properties, there’s a cot and highchair available.

If you fancy becoming the world’s most relaxed miller take a look at the property listing on cottages4you where you can find more info, check availability and make a booking online.
