We’ve been getting in an artistic mood recently in the cottages4you office. We’re not sure whether that’s due to the recent hot weather bathing the country in a glorious light, or the fact that Children’s Art Day normally takes place at this time of year (though, sadly, this year’s event appears to be cancelled). Regardless, we’ve decided to focus on somewhere with an artistic connection for this week’s recommended place to visit.
Every year the town of Kinsale in County Cork hosts Art Week: a fantastic celebration of the arts that takes advantage of the abundance of great locations to create an amazing schedule of events. There are theatrical performances, music concerts, live comedy shows and a host of unique discussions. But what really makes Kinsale Art Week special is the fantastic location. You’ll find a couple more suggestions for things to enjoy in the area below. Got your own? We’d love to hear it in the comments section.
• A two-legged tour is one of the best ways to explore Kinsale. There are a number of great walks in the area, including tours of the town’s history and heritage and ghost walks for hardy explorers!
• Kinsale is equally attractive from the sea, so it almost goes without saying that a harbour cruise is one of the best ways to appreciate the beautiful lay of the land. The cruise lasts about an hour and sets off from the town’s quay.
