Since we launched our ‘Wish You Were Here?’ competition last week we have received over 500 stunning images of UK holidays. And while we prepare ourselves for the enviable task of looking through them all, we also have the less welcome job of whittling them down to a short list of just 10. Judging by the quality so far, it’s not going to be easy!
If you fancy sharpening your photography skills then a stay at our new Cottage of the Week, Orchard End in Launceston, Cornwall, may just be what the doctor ordered. Not only does the property allow you to brush up on your visual arts – due to photography and painting days available by arrangement – but thanks to the owner’s surrounding 120 acres, and an abundance of natural beauty in the region, you won’t be short of subject matter either.
There’s frontage along the tranquil River Tamar if you want to practice your nature shots. If you fancy capturing some local heritage you’ll find an ancient castle and steam railway in the nearby market town of Launceston. There’s also an abundance of stunning wild scenery nearby at both Bodmin and Dartmoor National Parks. Then again, if you just fancy some family entertainment there’s Tamar Otter and Wildlife Centre and Trethorne Leisure Park and Golf Club nearby.
The cottage itself offers everything you might want from your holiday accommodation. As mentioned there’s 120 acres of surrounding land to explore with a lovely lawned garden with patio furniture and a BBQ. Inside you will find lovely garden views from the living room with the added bonus of a wood-burning stove to snuggle up by. There’s also TV with Freeview and a DVD player if you fancy getting your inspiration from elsewhere!
Equally attractive views are found in both bedrooms, along with an unmatched level of cosy comfort. There’s a double bedroom with a sofa bed and a twin room, which will ensure that up to 4 happy holidaymakers are suitably relaxed for their artistic exploration of the region.
