Cottage of the week – Copthall Cottage

We’re not quite sure how inspiration works. If we did we probably wouldn’t be starting this article trying to define it; we’d be inspired to talk about something else entirely. Perhaps even something a little more interesting! But even if we don’t quite understand how inspiration works, we’re fairly sure we know where you can find it.

It was in the grounds of Copthall Cottage that Albert Einstein spent some of his summer mornings in 1933, working on his theory of Science and Civilisation. Of course, we wouldn’t dream of supposing to know where Einstein found his inspiration, but we’re sure the abundance of birds and wildlife – such as deer, owls, woodpeckers and foxes –  didn’t provide too much of a hindrance either!

In the afternoons, Einstein would present his work to an audience at the Royal Albert Hall but, thankfully, you’ll have a much more relaxing set of options. Set near Cromer, the property allows a fantastic exploration of the Norfolk coast. You have Blue Flag beaches, a promenade, cinema, golf, tennis, shops, restaurants and pubs all vying for your leisure time.

More natural attractions can be found in the Norfolk Broads National Park, which offers a range of outdoor activities, including boating and water sports, along with a wealth of native wildlife. Further afield, there’s also the city of Norwich, which offers fantastic heritage alongside an abundance of more contemporary charms.

With so much inspiration on offer, you’re probably ready to return to Copthall Cotttage. Of course, you don’t have to do anything with your inspiration; you can just relax and bask in your surroundings. You’ll find the property is more than up to the task.

Boasting plenty of contemporary comforts, but not at the expense of its delightful historic features, Copthall Cottage is a delightfully cosy 17th century property. You’ll find everything you need to take it easy and enjoy your break. And if you want to gain an appreciation of the beautiful surroundings you don’t have to move any further than the attached conservatory.

So if you fancy taking up Einstein’s work into gravitational-waves then there’s probably no better property than this one. Equally, those just looking for somewhere nice to relax and enjoy a UK break will be equally satisfied with Copthall Cottage. If you fall into either category, you can find more info and make a booking on the property’s listing on cottages4you.
