We know summer’s a little way off, but we’ve already started planning our holidays in the cottages4you office, which perhaps explains the choice of Tregarthen near Falmouth as our new cottage of the week.
True, Tregarthen makes for an ideal summer holiday location. After all, it offers a spacious balcony, patio and outdoor swimming pool. But thanks to a fantastic location, cosy décor and the region’s temperate climate, you’ll find the property equally well suited to holidays in cooler climes.
Whenever you choose to visit, you’ll find a surrounding area rich with spoils. Stunning beaches, sheltered coves and coastal walkways are just a short distance away. The delightful village of Helford is also just a short ferry ride away, and offers the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful gardens of Trebah and Gelndurgan, both of which offer beautiful sub-tropical plants in stunning surrounds.
More practical needs are answered by the fantastic Ferryboat Inn on the waterfront at Helford Passage. Large French windows and an open terrace allow for spectacular views, while the Wright Brothers ‘farm to plate’ philosophy guarantees an equally satisfying dining experience. The cathedral city of Truro, which offers a theatre, cinema, shops, bars and restaurants, is also just a short distance from Tregarthen and perfect if you’re seeking urban vibrancy without compromising visual splendour.
Tregarthen itself sleeps 10 holidaymakers, with four double bedrooms and one twin. However, with the amount of space and options offered by the property, finding your own space should be anything but a problem. Equally, if you like your holidays to be more social affairs, you’ll find a spacious lounge with flat-screen TV, open-plan kitchen diner and plenty of comfortable furniture to unwind on. Thanks to the abundance of windows you will also have plenty of opportunities to get together and admire the sun setting over the creeks.
