As important as it is to find a beautiful holiday property to relax in, for many the view from your cottage is as, if not more, important. Thankfully our new cottage of the week, Giffaudière in Manche, should please all parties.
Set at the end of a sleepy country lane, Giffaudière is the very definition of a stunning French holiday home. Lovingly refurbished, it offers stone and wooden flooring, exposed beams, a wood burning stove, roll-top bath and fantastic range cooker among its many other charms. Step through the patio doors and you’ll find an inviting terrace and sprawling garden outside with an above ground splash spool perfect for cooling off on those long summer days.
In fact, the charms of Giffaudière are so many that you’d be forgiven for not venturing out of property at all. But to do so would be to miss out on one of the most spectacularly beautiful regions of France. In fact, one look at the surrounding valley from the windows of the property should be more than enough to compel you to explore the surrounding area.
On a clear day you can see the majestic spires of Mont Saint-Michel reach over the horizon. One of our recommended 101 places to visit, the tidal island of Mont Saint-Michel lies just over half a mile off the coast and offers visitors a rich, colourful history as well as a feast for the eyes.
Nearby Lake Darthee offers seasonal boating and fishing, while Granville offers sandy beaches, a casino and ferry trips to Jersey and Guernsey. Further explorations of history can be found at the famous D-Day landing beaches of Arromanches and Omaha, both accessible by car from Manche.
Summer is one of the best times to enjoy the charms of Giffaudière and the surrounding area. Please visit the property’s listing on cottages4you for more information and to make a booking.
