Cottage of the week – Gallant Fox

Gallant Fox in Devon, our new cottage of the week, fits the common idea of an idyllic English holiday cottage to such an extent that you probably won’t believe it actually exists, unless of course you’re lucky enough to experience it for yourself.

A former Regency carriage house set on the edge of a private estate, Gallant Fox has been lovingly converted to offer the ultimate luxury and comfort to its guests. The former equestrian stable now offers a log fire, deep comfortable sofas and enough games to make a break with up to 12 of your friends and family pass all too quickly.

In fact, one of the owners’ most significant accomplishments is making a larger property feel so homely and comfortable. Nearly every room, from the spacious lounge, the open plan kitchen diner to the large bedrooms offers enough space and comfort to take relaxation and pleasure to new levels. Of course the abundance of exposed beams, high ceilings and tasteful rustic décor certainly helps.

Fans of more active relaxation are equally well-served with an indoor swimming pool (open April to October) and a huge green expanse to explore. Slightly further afield, you’ll find a delightful woodland stream set amongst the bluebells which makes for the perfect place to begin a walk. That is, if you can manage to drag yourself away from your idyllic surroundings.

Devon itself offers more than enough entertainment for those on a holiday in the area. The cottage itself is set within a corner of the magnificent Dartmoor, 954 square kilometres of protected moorland, with incredible physical geography and wildlife. Devon’s beaches are easily accessible from the property and the popular historic city of Exeter will only take you 10 minutes, if you fancy a more vibrant exploration of the region.

Unsurprisingly, Gallant Fox is incredibly popular with holidaymakers so if you want to experience the joys of this 5 star property, we’d recommend booking as soon as possible. But as delightful and incredible as the property is, it’s just one of many that we list on cottages4you so you might like to explore our other cottages in the UK and beyond!
