Good weather encouraged people to flock to the Cotswolds over the Christmas period, a survey by the area”s District Council has found.
Tourist attractions and visitor information centres said trade was brisk in spite of the recession, the Cotswold Journal reports.
The Toy Museum on Park Street – which may be on the list of things to see for those planning a stay in Cotswolds holiday cottages – attracted "a fair number of people", owner George Sutton told the news source, noting that it was especially popular with visitors from Canada, Japan and the US.
And local residents and tourists alike were out in force to check out the switching on of Christmas lights and the various craft fairs that were held over the festive season.
The council”s Sally Graff was quoted by the new source as saying the various attractions in the Cotswolds were "pleased with the turnout" they saw during December.
Visitors to the area were recently encouraged to pay a visit to Chipping Campden, with Sarah Dave of the Wokingham Times stating that people who check out the area will have their breath taken away.
